As the week marches on there are some beautiful mornings. One morning the moon was so golden and still quite visible in the sky as I began my walk. I saw it quite clearly from my car, but as I began to walk it began to disappear from my view.
There were some beautiful colours over the lake.
The ice is really starting to melt now. I was really surprised to see this man out ice fishing later! It didn't seem quite stable.
The beautiful day had the birds out in droves. There were Red-Winged Blackbirds out in force singing their hearts out.
Not really surprising as I saw my first female Red-Winged Blackbird of the season. They usually arrive after the males.
The Mallards were out enjoying the sunshine too.
There were also some lovely lay-over vistors - a pair of Trumpeter Swans. These swans are native to Michigan. We don't often see them at the lake. There used to be a pair of Mute Swans (considered invasive) but they moved on. I am hoping the Trumpeters decide to stay but I know that is probably a long shot.
It was such a beautiful day that I stayed longer than I usually would. I took time to just sit on one of the felled trees and observe and enjoy the sunshine.
View from across the lake
The paths are now clear, the ice all melted away.
There were chipmunk around
Robins
And even a Pileated Woodpecker
What an absolutely beautiful day full of sunshine and wildlife!
